When I think about a BBQ party, I automatically go to red and white check. It’s as American as apple pie, right?
So…let’s do yellow. It’s summer, we’re partying outdoors, there are tons of yellow flowers in bloom, and every bride wants to be different.
This is a very rustic, informal -and fun- recipe for an engagement party.
THE INVITATION:

OK, that red and white check is back…with yellow flowers! But they’re cute. These are from Zazzle and can be customized for your party.
SETTING THE STAGE:

Welcome Flag
THE INSTAGRAM MOMENT:
This is an 8 x 6 fabric backdrop that looks like greens on a mount. You can also rent the boxwood hedges. Yellow and white balloon garland goes across the top and down one side (you could add in a few of these tissue engagement rings), and then add a lasered sign.
DRINKS:

This would be ideal, but I strongly suggest you limit the kinds of liquor to make your signature drinks, plus water, sodas, beer and wine.

POPCORN BAR:
Since there will be a substantial meal and sweets served, I like the idea of a Popcorn Bar during the cocktail hour so guests have something to nibble on. But not just any popcorn!
8 flavored types of popcorn in baskets. I would tuck a yellow bandana coming out at a point of each. Don’t forget the flavor stickers and shovels! The farmhouse table below is great.

MEMORY STATION:
Ask all of the family and friends to bring “defining moments” photos of the couple and hang them on a clothesline.
THE TABLE:
Start with a rustic burlap tablecloth, add a runner made of yellow bandana fabric and then these cute yellow and white check paper napkins.
Similar looks:

Fill Mason jars with baby’s breath and tie on some string or tie it with a yellow and white ribbon.

At Each Place:
A mini jar filled with lemon drops and tied with a tag that says “pucker up”.

If it’s going to be dark, you need to think about candles for the table.
THE BBQ:

Whatever BBQ food you decide on, add in something yellow (it’s our color, after all!)

DESSERT:
I think this is the perfect place for a S’mores Bar.
There are professionally designed stations on the market, or you can create your own,
DONT FORGET THE SIGNS:
There’s always room for S’more. Dessert Table.
Can’t say I Do without a BBQ. Food Table.
Popcorn Bar. Let’s get this party poppin’!
Really great cadual summer vibe. Feels fun!
